Project Details
The Egyptian government is keen to achieve justice in the distribution of water and raise the efficiency of agricultural land as the state continues to implement the canal lining project, which is one of the largest lining projects in the world in the modern era, by lining 20 thousand square kilometers of canals.
Accordingly, The Beheira Directorate (BID) has invested 2 Billion 858 million Pounds in the establish ent of 215 canals of total 520 square Km. The plan for the BID is to preserve precious Nile River water and practice optimal investments in agricultural activity, in addition lining canals has many benefits will be seen among farmers and irrigation systems alike, such as improved water management, more efficient distribution of water resources and minimized end-of-channel shortages.
Moreover, the project’s goals include improved quality of water within channels along with environmental returns, positive public health impacts and prevention of the spread of illnesses.
